Why Women Choose to Donate
Egg donation is one of the most generous gifts a woman can give. Every year, women just like you decide to help a couple or individual who could not otherwise have a biological child of their own. Some donors are moved by a personal connection to infertility. Others simply want to use their fertility to change someone else’s life. Whatever your reason, we are honored that you are considering this journey.
How Hope Harbor Helps
Donating eggs is easier than most women expect. You complete an online profile from your phone or computer, save your progress anytime, and our team reviews it personally. From there, we guide you through matching, screening, your medical cycle, and retrieval with a dedicated coordinator by your side the entire time. We believe egg donation should feel simple, safe, and genuinely supported.
How We Keep It Simple
Egg donation involves a lot of moving parts. Our job is to make sure none of that weight falls on you. Here is what that looks like in practice.
💰
A Fair, Transparent Fee
We offer one of the most competitive donation fees among agencies with comparable experience and success rates, with full service included rather than charged separately. Escrow and medical management are part of how we support you. An additional escrow fee applies, and our team is always happy to walk you through every detail.
🗺️
A Streamlined Process
We know every egg donation journey is unique. Before anything begins, we sit down with you to discuss your needs, concerns, and expectations so that your experience feels personal, not procedural. We handle the financial and legal coordination so you can focus on what matters most.
📞
Support Around the Clock
Our dedicated team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every donor receives a direct line to their personal coordinator or a staff member working on their case. If your coordinator is ever away, sick, or on vacation, you will always be given alternate contact information so you are never without support.
🤝
Real References, On Request
We are happy to connect prospective donors with former clients who have completed our program, so you can hear directly from someone who has walked this path before you. We want you to feel completely confident in your decision to donate with Hope Harbor.
How to Donate Eggs
Hope Harbor supports anonymous, semi open, and open donor arrangements. You will decide which option is right for you before your profile is shared with intended parents. Be sure to choose flattering, varied photos for your profile, including full length, baby, and family photos. Thoughtful photos often help a donor be chosen sooner.
Most Common
Anonymous Donation
No identifying information is exchanged between you and the intended parents. They will not know who you are, and you will not be given information about them. It is also possible you will not be informed of whether a pregnancy results from your donation.
A Middle Ground
Semi Open Donation
A small amount of information is shared between you and the intended parents, such as first names and ages, before moving forward. If you agree to donate after reviewing this basic information, you are matched and the process begins.
Full Transparency
Open Donation
All information is shared between both parties, and you agree to keep communication open, potentially throughout the life of the child. You may review the intended parents’ profile before agreeing to be matched, and may speak by phone or meet in person if both sides are open to it.
Your Donation Journey, Step by Step
Here is an overview of the major stages between submitting your application and helping bring a new life into the world.
1
Complete Your Profile
Fill out our online application from any device, at your own pace. Save your progress and return anytime.
2
Profile Review
Our team reviews your profile and reaches out by phone, text, or email to confirm you are ready to move forward.
3
Matching
Based on your preferences, your profile is presented to intended parents who may select you for their journey.
4
Medical & Psychological Screening
You complete hormone testing, genetic screening, infectious disease testing, and a psychological evaluation.
5
Contracts & Escrow
Once contracts are signed, your compensation is placed into escrow and your medical cycle is scheduled.
6
Medication & Monitoring
You begin a carefully monitored medication cycle synchronized with the recipient’s timeline, with full guidance throughout.
7
Retrieval & Recovery
Your eggs are retrieved under sedation in a short outpatient procedure, with recovery the very same day.
Understanding Your Medical Cycle
We believe in walking you through every medical step before it happens, never after. Here is exactly what your body will experience during the donation cycle.
💊
Cycle Synchronization
While the recipient mother or gestational surrogate is being prepared for the embryo transfer, you may be placed on birth control pills for a short period before starting Lupron injections to synchronize your cycle with theirs.
🩺
Monitoring
You will be monitored through ultrasound and blood tests, either at your recipient’s clinic or a satellite clinic near your home, so the process fits into your life as smoothly as possible.
🌱
Stimulation
You will then begin taking follicle stimulating hormone, which encourages the development of multiple eggs in preparation for retrieval.
💉
Trigger Shot
Your reproductive endocrinologist will instruct you on when to take the final HCG injection, which prepares your ovaries to release the eggs. Retrieval is scheduled for 36 hours afterward.
🏥
Retrieval
A fertility specialist retrieves the eggs through a needle passed through the vaginal wall into the ovary. The procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes, and you are fully sedated and feel nothing. Most donors go home after about 20 minutes of recovery.
🔬
Fertilization
Retrieved eggs may undergo testing before being fertilized and grown in the lab for two to three days. Any remaining embryos are typically cryogenically frozen for future use.
💛
The Outcome
A pregnancy test is taken eight to fourteen days after transfer. If the result is positive, you have helped create a new life and brought joy to a family who could not have built theirs without you.
Note: After retrieval, you will return for a follow up exam. Because the chance of pregnancy is elevated during this window, you should avoid intercourse until your next menstrual period.
Screening & Eligibility
Once matched with intended parents, you will undergo a thorough screening process. This exists to protect your health and to confirm you are a strong candidate for egg donation, never to make the process feel invasive or impersonal.
Medical Screening
✔
Hormone Level Evaluation
Your hormone levels are tested to confirm you are a strong physical candidate for the donation cycle.
✔
Genetic Disease Testing
Genetic screening helps ensure the health and safety of any resulting pregnancy and child.
✔
Infectious Disease Testing
You will be tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Your spouse or partner will also be tested when applicable.
Psychological Screening
✔
Clinical Evaluation
You will meet with a clinical psychologist who specializes in third party reproduction to discuss your motivations and readiness.
✔
Psychological Assessment
You will be administered the MMPI, a standardized psychological assessment used widely in third party reproduction screening.
✔
Honest, Open Communication
We ask all donor candidates to be transparent about their medical history and personal circumstances so we can support you appropriately.
Potential Risks of Egg Donation
We believe every prospective donor deserves complete honesty about the physical realities of this process. Please consider the following before applying.
⚠️
Bruising or Hemorrhaging
The needle used during retrieval may cause bruising or, in rare cases, hemorrhaging of the ovary.
⚠️
Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome
A now rare set of side effects that can occur over a two week period following egg retrieval, caused by elevated hormone levels from fertility medication used to stimulate egg growth.
⚠️
Unknown Long Term Effects
As with any medical procedure involving hormone stimulation, some long term consequences of egg donation are not yet fully understood by current medical research.
Our commitment to you: Your coordinator and our partner medical team will review all of this information with you in detail before you begin any medication or procedure, ensuring you feel fully informed and comfortable with your decision at every step.
Why Donors Choose Hope Harbor
I was nervous about my first donation, but my coordinator answered every question, even the ones I felt silly asking. The whole process felt human, not clinical. Knowing I helped a family who had been waiting so long made every step worth it.

Two Time Egg Donor · Denver, CO
I chose semi open donation because I wanted some connection without the full commitment of open contact. Hope Harbor respected exactly what I was comfortable with and never pushed me toward anything else. The compensation was fair and arrived exactly when promised.
Courtney B.
Egg Donor · Phoenix, AZ
My coordinator was available at 9pm when I had a question about my medication, and that meant everything to me during the cycle. I never felt like just a number. Hope Harbor genuinely cares about their donors, not just the outcome.
